We are thrilled to be supporting World Ocean Day for Schools (WODfS) in their work to inspire marine citizenship and a connection to our blue spaces amongst our younger generations.  The programme was set up by Protect Blue; an agency which partners with organisations and groups to deliver storytelling and education in the ocean conservation space.

Launched in 2018, WODfS focusses on increasing ocean literacy in schools, evolving from an event with 400 schools to an interactive online festival with over 100k users (now a UN Ocean Decade endorsed project).  In 2022 they launched Our Blue – a digital platform that enables schools to map their local blue space. They want kids to know they can be ocean advocates no matter where they live. With input from conservation partners (now including Rivers Trust and Earth Echo), they create activities that help build a closer connection to their blue space, whether it is a beach, river, canal, stream or lake.

We look forward to following the World Ocean Day for Schools’ progress and impact, with this year’s theme aiming to engage young people in ‘blue’ career paths.
